Celebrate Canada Day Like a Local in Burlington | The Smallbone Team

Canada Day in Burlington is more than just a summer holiday. It is a chance to come together as a community, enjoy the waterfront, support local vendors, and celebrate everything that makes Burlington such a special place to call home.

For 2026, the City of Burlington is hosting its Canada Day celebration on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Spencer Smith Park, located at 1400 Lakeshore Road. The day includes free family-friendly entertainment, community activities, food, live performances, a Kids Zone, a marketplace, a drone show, and fireworks over Lake Ontario.

Canada Day Events at Spencer Smith Park

Spencer Smith Park is the heart of Burlington’s Canada Day celebration. Located along the downtown waterfront, it is one of the best places to experience the city’s community spirit.

Planned activities include:

  • Kids Zone

  • Local marketplace vendors

  • Food vendors

  • Live music and performances

  • Community activities

  • Official opening ceremony at 4 p.m., led by Burlington’s Junior Redcoats

  • Evening drone light show

  • Fireworks display over Lake Ontario

Start the Day with the Canada Day Races

For those who like to start the holiday with a little movement, the Canada Day Races 1K, 3K and 5K are also listed for Wednesday, July 1, 2026, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Spencer Smith Park.

This is a great way for families, runners, and community members to kick off the day before enjoying the waterfront festivities.

Family-Friendly Fun for All Ages

Canada Day in Burlington is a great outing for families. With a vibrant Kids Zone, live entertainment, food options, and open green space, Spencer Smith Park offers something for everyone.

Families can spend the afternoon by the lake, enjoy local food, visit marketplace vendors, and take in live performances throughout the day.

Enjoy Burlington’s Waterfront Lifestyle

One of the reasons so many people love living in Burlington is the lifestyle. Canada Day is the perfect reminder of what makes this city so desirable: beautiful parks, a walkable downtown, lakefront views, and a strong sense of community.

Before or after the festivities, take a stroll along the Waterfront Trail, visit a local patio, explore downtown shops, or enjoy the views at the pier.

Getting There: Transit, Shuttles and Parking

Canada Day is expected to be busy downtown, so planning ahead is recommended. For 2026, Burlington Transit is free all day and will operate on a Saturday schedule. The City is also offering a free Canada Day shuttle service from noon to approximately 11:30 p.m., running continuously from Burlington GO Station to Spencer Smith Park at Lakeshore Road and Brock Avenue.

This is a great option if you want to avoid downtown parking and enjoy a stress-free day.

End the Night with a Drone Show and Fireworks

The evening celebration is one of the highlights of Canada Day in Burlington. The event will finish with a drone light show and fireworks display over Lake Ontario, creating a memorable end to the day.

For the best experience, arrive early, bring a blanket or lawn chair, and choose your viewing spot before the evening crowds arrive.
